Precautions for Plunger Pump

The plunger pump is a crucial piece of equipment, and special attention must be paid during routine maintenance. Keep the fuel clean, ensure the temperature and viscosity are appropriate, and ensure all lubrication points are adequately lubricated. Regularly check the fuel cam and lifting mechanism, inspect the fuel injection timing, and perform regular disassembly inspections. Any issues found should be addressed promptly to prevent larger failures.

Due to the current turbulent sea conditions and the lack of available spare parts, the plunger pump's lifting roller had to be raised, and the seal was run to port for repairs. After a thorough inspection, the cause of the fault was identified: the positioning pin that secures the lifting roller's vertical motion had cracked, causing the roller to move sideways and collide with the fuel cam. This damaged both the roller and cam, leading to the failure. The factors contributing to the cracking of the positioning pin include:

1. Defects in the material of the positioning pin.
2. Improper installation of the positioning pin.
3. Long periods without inspection, leading to excessive wear and eventual cracking of the positioning pin.
