Guangxi Construction Machinery Companies Expand into Smart and Electric Equipment, Overseas Business Defies Trends with Growth
Liuzhou, November 7, 2024 (Lin Xin, Lu Jing) — Electric loaders that can reverse charge batteries, saving 15% to 20% in energy; electric rigid vehicles using industry-leading non-powered interruption direct-drive systems, and electric excavators that can swap batteries in five minutes… A batch of China’s new energy construction machinery equipment focusing on electrification was recently showcased in Liuzhou, Guangxi.
From November 6 to 7, the "Green, Smart, Extending Human Power" LiuGong 11·26 Global Customer Festival was held. Thousands of customers from India, South Africa, Chile, China, and other countries attended to experience the smart and electrifying appeal of LiuGong’s products.
As one of the first Chinese construction machinery companies to research electrification and launch unmanned driving technologies, LiuGong has been actively developing electric and intelligent products in recent years. During the customer festival, LiuGong showcased large-scale mining equipment, new electric products, and unmanned road solutions to global customers.
Mario, a long-time distributor from Chile, remarked on the dramatic changes at LiuGong. He noted that the company now offers different machines suitable for various applications, with unmanned operations. He said, “The key reason we choose to collaborate with Chinese construction machinery companies is their focus on technological innovation in their products.”
In recent years, with the rapid development of electrification and intelligent technologies in the construction machinery sector, LiuGong has continued to launch new electric and intelligent products. To date, LiuGong has sold over 6,500 electric and intelligent machines globally, with exports to 35 countries.
As technology continues to innovate, LiuGong's international expansion path has grown broader. The company currently has over 500 dealers in more than 170 countries, more than 20 manufacturing bases, 12 global R&D centers, and over 30 overseas subsidiaries and institutions.
Li Dongchun, Senior Director of LiuGong's International Business Department, stated that after more than 20 years of global expansion, LiuGong has entered a "comprehensive internationalization" phase. Through international R&D, procurement, and full-solution offerings, LiuGong helps global customers improve productivity and reduce operating costs.
In the first half of this year, LiuGong's overseas performance continued to improve, with overseas revenue accounting for nearly 50% of total company revenue. The international business has become the core driver of LiuGong’s growth in recent years, helping the company navigate through the industry's downturn cycle. Zeng Guang'an, Chairman of LiuGong, stated that despite the industry challenges, LiuGong’s performance has been on the rise, with total revenue expected to hit a new historical high in 2024.
Currently, industry trends such as smart construction, low-carbon green solutions, and electrification are driving the digital transformation and sustainable development of China's construction machinery industry. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China recently held a seminar on the digital transformation of the construction machinery sector, emphasizing the acceleration of the industry’s development towards higher-end, intelligent, and green technologies.
Looking to the future, Zhu Binqiang, Vice President of LiuGong, said that in terms of electrification, LiuGong plans to build an electric component factory and accelerate the development of new electric technologies. On the smart front, the company will focus on unmanned driving products and ICT technology development, while also working on building intelligent mining operations systems.
